Ourmap is an open resource for student writers, writing faculty, and Writing Center workers. Think of it as a virtual commons for writers and educators--a crossroads where college and high school students make their writing and photos public in the Gallery, where writing faculty can swap ideas and projects in Ten Thousand Assignments, and where Writing Center tutors, directors, and clients meet in the Lounge to chat about the art of one-on-one and small group writing instruction. The idea is to facilitate exchange of ideas among the people directly involved in writing programs and writing curricula: student writers, first-year writing faculty, writing across the curriculum, and writing centers. This is not a peer-reviewed journal that publishes the "best" essays but an open archive of writing projects, voices, and research.
